Audits

Members with existing homes can select the energy audit level that fits their needs. The audit recommendations will provide weatherization and energy saving techniques. Members may be eligible for reimbursement for the cost of an energy audit if they perform the energy savings measures as recommended in the audit.

Level I:

  • Onsite energy comparison for members considering upgrading their heating system.
  •  Energy comparison analysis for up to four different types of heating systems.
  •  The charge for Level I audits is $45.

Level II:

  • On-site audit and walk-through energy home inspection.
  • Infrared camera imaging to help detect voids around windows and doors or missing/damaged insulation.
  • Energy comparison analysis for up to four different types of heating systems.
  • Full audit report with recommendations for energy saving techniques.
  • The charge for Level II audits is $75.

Level III:

  • On-site audit and walk-through energy home inspection.
  • Infrared camera imaging to help detect voids around windows and doors or missing/damaged insulation.
  • Energy comparison analysis for up to four different types of heating systems.
  • A blower door test to help determine the home's air tightness.
  • Full audit report with recommendations for energy saving techniques.
  • The charge for Level III audits is $175.

Energy Comparisons:

An energy comparison analysis is available for members who are building homes and will be provided free of charge. Please provide us with a house plan and we will compare up to four different types of heating systems.

How to use the Chart

Find the chart of the electric heat you're considering i.e. air-to-air heat pump; geothermal (ground source) heat pump or electric resistance heat.

Find the kWh price for electricity and compare it to prices for propane, natural gas and oil on the same line.

For example, geothermal systems, with electricity at 4.82 cents/kWh is equal to propane (in a 90% efficient furnace) at 37 cents/gallon. If propane costs more, it's a more expensive form of heat.
