Bank Draft
Why pay your bill the old fashioned way when you can set your account up for automatic payment each month from your checking or savings account - no hassles, no worries. You can help us reduce our costs by setting your account up on bank draft since this is the least expensive way to pay your bill. To enroll, complete the bank draft form and mail it into our office along with a voided check if it will draw from your checking account and a deposit slip if it will draw from a savings account.

Personalized Payment Service
If you prefer our customer service department to process your payment transaction or if you have additional questions, you can contact us at 800-234-1960. We accept VISA and MasterCard and can process a credit/debit card transaction up to $1,000. We can also process an electronic check payment that allows you to make a payment directly from your checking account without writing and mailing a check. If you prefer to make a payment in person, you can stop in and make your payment at the front desk of any of our service centers -- Colman, Brandon or Pipestone.
Automated Payment Service
If you prefer to process your payment transaction by our automated payment system, you can request that when you call in to Sioux Valley Energy or you can call into the automated system directly at 877-283-9773. You'll need to provide your account number along with the last four digits of your social security number in order to process a check payment. The automated system will prompt you through the process.
Check by mail/drop box
We still accept checks by mail, but encourage customers to explore one of our other convenient, cost effective bill payment options. For your added convenience, drop boxes for payments are located at each of our service centers in Colman, Brandon and Pipestone for payments made after-hours.
Budget Billing
Many customers like to plan their electric expenses without fluctuating or unfortunate surprises. Budget billing does that by averaging your actual billing for the previous twelve months into the same monthly charge each month. Budget amounts are recalculated each year in May to reflect your actual usage. To enroll, your account must have a current payment status.

Billing Policies/Fees/Frequently Asked Questions -- back to top ↑
|
|
When is my bill due?
Bills are due upon receipt and are considered delinquent after the due date. Any balance unpaid ten days after the due date will be charged a late fee of $5.00 or 1.5% of the past due amount, whichever is greater, per service. Accounts unpaid at the time the next month's bill is printed will receive a reminder notice as part of the bill. Accounts unpaid ten days after the reminder notice is mailed will be sent a notice of disconnect.
What is the non-payment disconnect policy?
Prior to making a collection trip to your location, an attempt is made to contact you using our automated phone system. A $25 fee is charged if it is necessary to make a collection trip and an additional $25 fee is charged to reconnect during business hours. If the reconnect is done after business hours, a $125 reconnect fee is charged. A deposit equal to a two month average usage can be required if it is necessary to make a collection trip twice in a 12 month period or if an account is disconnected for nonpayment.
Do you assess charges for returned payments?
If a payment item is refused by your financial institution, $30 will be charged to defray the cost of handling. A letter of notification will be sent to you regarding the returned item. The notification letter will include a due date within seven to ten days to make payment in cash, credit/debit card or by money order for the full balance on the account. In addition to the account balance, a security deposit may be requested. The returned payment and charges are considered delinquent and subject to the disconnection policies. If two or more checks are refused within a 12 month period, the account will be on cash only terms.
What is a facility charge?
A facility charge is a fee for having an electric service available for use. This charge applies to all active and disconnected services.
